SUMMARY
Operating a forensic Day Reporting Center with treatment, medication management, daily classes, peer support, and case management in a warm and welcoming space to individuals receiving out-of-custody competency evaluation and restoration

BACKGROUND
When competency clients are released to be restored in the community, even if they have a housing plan, they often lack a daytime destination to visit to receive services and support.   Also, given that transportation is difficult for many of these clients, having a centralized location to provide a number of services is helpful.

ELEMENTS
Peer support, transportation, lounge space and snacks, medication management, psychiatric services, classes, substance use monitoring, case management, telecommunications technology, and competency services

PROGRAM STAFF
Office and billing administrator, clinical supervisor (partial), case manager, peer support specialist, and behavioral health therapist

CAPACITY
40 clients at a time

ANTICIPATED OUTCOMES
Decrease in individuals who require admittance to the state hospital for competency restoration; decrease in time to reach competency outcome; increase in treatment service engagement during and after justice involvement

STANDOUT ASPECTS
The Day Reporting Center provides a physical location where treatment and wraparound services can be combined with competency restoration services, and it provides a welcoming place for out-of-custody clients.
