SUMMARY 
Operating a Day Reporting Center with treatment, medication management, daily classes, peer support, and case management in a warm and welcoming space to individuals receiving out-of-custody competency evaluation and restoration; Gateway to Success-Pueblo also provides clients with emergency housing.

BACKGROUND
Prior to the implementation of this program, the 10th Judicial District (Pueblo County) was a large judicial district without a Fines Committee-funded program operating to serve the competency population statewide.

ELEMENTS
Emergency housing, peer support, transportation, warm and welcoming space with lounge space and snacks, medication management, psychiatric services, classes, substance use monitoring, case management, telecommunications technology, and competency services  

PROGRAM STAFF
Program administrator, two case managers, two peer support specialists, licensed professional counselor, certified addiction specialist, prescribing psychiatrist, and van driver

CAPACITY
70 clients at a time

ANTICIPATED OUTCOMES
Decrease the number of competency attached clients who are currently being housed in the local jail pending restoration/treatment services; Decrease the overall number of individuals who require admittance to the state hospital for competency restoration; Decrease time to reach competency outcome; Increase treatment service engagement during and after justice involvement

STANDOUT ASPECTS
The Day Reporting Center provides a physical location where treatment and wraparound services can be combined with competency restoration services – and it provides a welcoming place to go for out-of-custody clients.
