SUMMARY 
Providing specialized training to patients of the Colorado Mental Health Hospitals in Pueblo and Fort Logan.

BACKGROUND
Living with mental illness presents many challenges.  This training applies evidence-based principles to help ameliorate those challenges.  The training is conducted by peers with lived experience.  Additionally, training for staff is aimed at improving empathetic and compassionate care.

ANTICIPATED OUTCOMES
Decrease in individuals who acquire criminal charges for reasons related to behavioral health; Reduced admittance to the state hospital for competency restoration; Increase in treatment service engagement in lieu of justice involvement

STANDOUT ASPECTS
This program seeks to enhance the outcomes of hospitalization and to improve the capacity of the hospitals to reach favorable patient outcomes.
